Submissions open for Go Wild Grants Program in Canada
Section
The WWF has announced its Go Wild Grants Program to implement projects that protect or restore natural habitat while engaging communities on and around campus.
Go Wild Grants will prioritize ideas that help your campus community learn about the local ecosystem including its history, its biodiversity and what it needs to thrive, take action for nature by creating, restoring or protecting habitat with native seeds, plants and trees, and connect with your surrounding community to create lasting impact.
Each institution can receive up to $2,000 to support practical, hands-on projects that can be completed on campus between January and October 2026. Past initiatives have included creating native pollinator gardens, establishing seed orchards, growing culturally significant plants, restoring creeks and forests, monitoring wildlife, and conducting biodiversity inventories.
Applications will be assessed based on the quality and relevance of the project, its potential impact, sustainability and management plans, the feasibility of the implementation plan, appropriateness of the budget, storytelling potential, and connections to Indigenous communities. Projects using native seeds, plants, or trees and those with significant community engagement and measurable outcomes will receive priority.
Eligible applicants include individual students of majority age, ratified student clubs, student associations, faculty, staff, and campus offices. Projects must be completed by October 31, 2026, and must take place within the campus community unless directly part of academic coursework with faculty or staff.
Funding can be used for materials and services such as plants, soil, equipment, field costs, honoraria for Indigenous elders and knowledge keepers, communication materials, documentation, permits, and necessary facility or vehicle rentals. Staff salaries or unrelated fees are not eligible expenses.
Applications must be submitted via the online form by October 24, 2025. Selected projects will be required to share stories, photos, or videos, and submit a final report by October 31, 2026.
