The Southland District Council is inviting community-led proposals through its Community Partnership Fund, with the Ardlussa board offering tailored support to help local initiatives thrive.

This fund is all about empowering communities to shape their own futures by providing funding that aligns with locally identified priorities and aspirations.

Applicants to the Ardlussa fund don’t need to be formal organizations—individuals and informal groups are welcome to apply, with support structured around not-for-profit purposes. While there’s no set funding limit, applications that align closely with the Ardlussa Community Board’s vision of a connected, vibrant, and inclusive community will be given preference.

Each year, approximately $6,500 is available through this fund. Applications open annually and must be submitted before the end of September, with successful projects typically discussed at the community board meeting early the following December.

Given the personalized nature of the fund, applicants may be asked to speak directly to the board about their project during the process, helping to forge deeper engagement and understanding.

Recent recipients include groups investing in a new hot water system for the Balfour Town Hall, oral history equipment for Switzer’s Museum, and a community garden tunnel house, each reflecting the unique needs and character of the Ardlussa region.

This fund offers a powerful chance for residents, grassroots groups, and local champions in Ardlussa to bring meaningful, bottom-up projects to life—enriching shared spaces, supporting local culture, and sustaining the aspirations of rural communities.
