The Emerald Publishing has unveiled an exciting opportunity for academics and researchers across Southeast and East Asia in the form of its Southeast & East Asia Case Writing Competition.

This initiative invites participants from countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Macau, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Thailand to craft compelling teaching case studies rooted in real-life organizational challenges.

Participants are encouraged to submit under 7,000-word teaching cases—alongside a teaching note, title page, and consent to publish form—through the Emerging Markets Case Studies collection on ScholarOne until the final deadline . If successful, their work will be published in the Scopus-indexed EMCS collection, offering both international exposure and the chance to contribute to education in their region.

The competition carries a total prize fund of £1,500, with five winners each receiving £300 upon successful publication of their submissions. Even entries that don’t win will still be considered for publication, ensuring that strong work may still find its way into academic discourse.

A distinguished panel of judges from prominent institutions across the region—including Sunway University in Malaysia, Mahidol International College in Thailand, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, University of Indonesia, and National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism in Taiwan—will assess submissions, ensuring a robust and fair evaluation process.

To aid participants in crafting high-quality entries, Emerald provides a suite of free resources: the Emerald Cases Hub offers a comprehensive course and sample materials for writing case studies and teaching notes. Supplementary quick-guide downloads help authors structure their submissions effectively and meet EMCS authoring standards.

This competition not only offers a platform for recognition and publication but also nurtures the art of case writing. It provides authors with mentorship through guidelines and resources, exposure through international publication, and tangible rewards through monetary awards. For those eager to make a meaningful contribution to business education in the region, this competition is an opportunity not to be missed.
