Request for Proposals: Community Climate Fund (UK)
Section
Local community groups and non-profit organizations in Horsham District now have a powerful chance to help shape a sustainable future through the Community Climate Fund.
Designed to support projects that align with the vision of a net-zero district, this fund enables grassroots efforts to reduce carbon emissions and foster environmental resilience close to home.
The Fund supports initiatives across six complementary themes—cutting carbon emissions, lowering energy use, conserving water and reducing flood risks, minimizing waste, boosting biodiversity, and transforming transport through easier walking, cycling, and public transit. These areas are woven into a broader vision of long-term wellbeing, community inclusion, and lasting impact.
Two tiers of support are available: a grassroots scheme offering up to £1,000, and a larger small-grant option with awards up to £5,000. Where project costs fall between £5,000 and £10,000, applicants may receive half of the total funding from the Fund, with the remainder sourced elsewhere. Strong proposals provide a clear plan for matching the funding and ensuring the project can move forward effectively.
The Council offers free, tailored support to strengthen applications—whether through help with carbon calculations or guidance on project design—making it easier for community groups to feel confident and prepared.
By bringing people together around climate-friendly ideas, the Fund has already sparked change with impactful local projects. Supported groups are encouraged to document and celebrate their success to inspire others, turning individual initiatives into broader momentum for environmental action across the district.
