The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is accepting applications for its Project Title Lot 2: Strengthening the Resilience and Social Reintegration of conflict affected Children and Women including survivors of gender-based violence and those exiting armed groups.

Specific Objectives
  • Increase access for children and women disassociated from armed groups, together with other vulnerable children, to sustainable, equitable social reintegration services, including MHPSS and case management for family tracing, reunification and other support services.
  • Enhance the capacity of children, families and communities, and partners to participate in transitional justice and reconciliation processes, thereby increasing resilience, improving social cohesion, and reducing the rejection and stigmatisation of former child associates of NSAG.
  • Strengthen SGBV protection mechanisms to improve prevention and response services, inform and empower women and girls, and promote positive social norms change.
  • Increase children and women access to PSEA reporting mechanisms to foster accountability.
  • Strengthen the engagement and participation of men and boys in discussions to transform negative masculinities, eliminate discriminatory gender and social norms, and the elimination of harmful traditional practices.
  • Increase the children and women who have exited armed groups and other vulnerable women access to GBV/PSEA response and prevention services.

Expected Results 
  • Result statement 1: SGBV: Prevention, risk mitigation, & response services including addressing social norms and harmful practices against children and women in Northeast Nigeria.
    • Result 1: Children, youth, including girls and women disassociated with armed groups, together with other community members survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, have greater access to quality SGBV services in BAY states.
      • Output 1.1: Survivors of sexual and gender-based violence benefit from an inclusive, comprehensive and coordinated approach to SGBV prevention, care support, recovery and perpetrator accountability.
  • Result statement 2: Strengthen Child Protection Community-based Structures and Social Workforce to identify, document, respond, report and refer for comprehensive case management services.
    • Result 2: Children formerly associated with NSAG as well as other vulnerable children at community level have access to timely, effective, sustainable and inclusive Child Protection services at the community level in BAY States.
      • Output 2: Children, families and communities affected by the conflict benefit from improved community-based child protection services across BAY states.
  • Result statement 3: Prevention of & response to violence against children, girls and women across Vocational training institutions, schools and at community level in BAY states (Child safeguarding).
    • Result 3: Children and women formerly associated with non-state armed groups and other conflict affected children and women in the camps and communities have access to safe and dignified child protection services across BAY states.
      • Output 3: Boys and girls exiting armed groups and other conflict affected children and women are provided with safe and conducive child protection services across BAY States.
  • Result statement 4: Civilians, especially children, in conflict affected areas of Northeast Nigeria are better protected from the risks posed by explosive ordnance through strengthened risk education, awareness and community engagement.
    • Result 4: Increased awareness and adoption of safe behaviors among children and other civilians in high-risk communities, leading to a reduction in incidents and casualties related to explosive ordnance.
      • Output 4.1: Exploisve Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) sessions delivered to at least 80,000 children and 60,000 community members through schools, child friendly spaces, and community-based child protection mechanisms in BAY States.
