The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has launched the Project title Lot 1: Strengthening the Resilience and Social Reintegration of conflict affected Children and Women including those exiting armed groups and survivors of gender-based violence in BAY States.

Specific Objectives
  • Increase access for children, youth and women disassociated with armed groups, and other vulnerable conflict affected children, to sustainable, equitable Community-based Child Protection services, including case management, MHPSS, GBV and other support services.
  • Enhance the capacity of children, families and communities, and partners to participate in transitional justice and reconciliation processes, thereby increasing resilience, improving social cohesion, and reducing the rejection and stigmatisation of former child associates of NSAG as well as other vulnerable conflict affected chldren and women.
  • Provide quality SGBV prevention, mitigation, & response services including addressing social norms and harmful practices against children, youth, including girls and women disassociated from armed groups, and survivors of sexual and gender-based violence in BAY states.
  • Strengthen SGBV protection mechanisms to improve prevention and response services, inform and empower women and girls, and promote positive social norms change.

Expected Results 
  • Result Statement 1: Children, youth, including girls and women disassociated from armed groups, and survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, have greater access to quality SGBV Prevention, mitigation, & response services including addressing social norms and harmful practices in BAY states.
    • Result 1: Children, youth, including girls and women disassociated from armed groups, together with other community members survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, have greater access to quality services in BAY states.
  • Result statement 2: Provision of Community-Based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Service (MHPSS) to children and caregivers affected by the conflict in Northeast Nigeria.
    • Result 2: Children and care givers including those disassociated from armed groups have greater access to quality Community-based mental health and psychosocial services in BAY states.
      • Output 1.1: Survivors of sexual and gender-based violence benefit from an inclusive, comprehensive and coordinated approach to SGBV prevention, care support, recovery and perpetrator accountability.
      • Output 2: An increased number of children and caregivers including those exiting armed groups benefit from quality community-based mental health and psychosocial support services in BAY States.
  • Result statement 3: Strengthen Child Protection Community-based Structures and Social Workforce to identify, document, respond, report and refer for comprehensive case management services.
    • Result 3: Children formerly associated with NSAG as well as other vulnerable children at community level have access to timely, effective, sustainable and inclusive Child Protection services at the community level in BAY States.
      • Output 3: Children, families and communities affected by the conflict benefit from improved community-based child protection services across BAY states.
  • Result statement 4: Social cohesion, Peace building and transitional justice (Social Reintegration).
    • Result 4: The participation of children, families and communities in transitional justice, reconciliation and peacebuilding efforts as well as strengthening social cohesion and reducing the rejection and stigmatization of children formerly associated with NSAG and other vulnerable children and women are supported and enhanced at community level.
