Open Call: Islington Council’s Community Chest Grant Program (UK)
Section
Are you an Islington-based voluntary or community organisation? Would you like to make a positive impact in Islington? Could your group or organisation do with some extra funding? Apply for Islington Council’s Community Chest!
Islington Council’s Community Chest is a small grants programme delivered in partnership with Cripplegate Foundation that offers funding to voluntary, community, and non-profit groups working directly with local residents.
Grants of up to £5,000 are available to support grassroots initiatives, with priority given to organisations with an annual turnover below £50,000 and projects that assist residents experiencing poverty or isolation. Applications are reviewed by a panel composed of local councillors, Cripplegate governors, and members of the community network, ensuring decisions are grounded in local insight and fairness.
The fund supports a wide range of community work, including advice and support services, environmental improvements, initiatives that reduce isolation and strengthen local involvement, and efforts to improve mental and physical well-being. It embraces diversity and seeks to benefit a broad spectrum of residents through inclusive and responsive support.
Islington Council has committed approximately £190,000 per year to the programme through at least March 2026, confirming their ongoing support for sustaining local community engagement and empowerment. If your group qualifies and aligns with these aims, this funding stream could provide meaningful, flexible backing for your community-led project.
