Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize for Health Science Teachers at Universities (Denmark)
Section
Applicants are now invited to submit applications to recognize and highlight a team of teachers (two or three teachers) who have collectively made an extraordinary effort to educate and qualify the country’s Health Sciences students at universities and have set an example which inspires at international level.
The prize is aimed at committed and talented teachers who are full-time permanent employees at the associate professor or higher level, or on a tenure-track at the assistant professor level, and who teach Health Sciences subjects in Health Sciences educational programmes in the Danish Realm.
This prize is awarded annually to teams of two or three teachers. It consists of a total sum of DKK 1,500,000, which includes a personal honorarium of DKK 25,000 for each educator. The remainder of the prize money goes to the university as an educational funding grant.
The portion of the prize money allocated to the university must be used by the team for the development of Health Sciences teaching. This can include activities such as the purchase of experimental equipment, upgrading of teaching facilities, funding development projects, or inspiration trips to other universities.
The rector or a dean acting on behalf of the rector must nominate the teaching team for the prize. Students and colleagues are encouraged to propose candidates to the dean or rector, who will then submit the nomination. Only one team of teachers can be nominated from a single university. The Committee on The Novo Nordisk Foundation Teaching Prizes is responsible for selecting the successful nominee.
The prizes are presented at either the recipient’s university celebration or the annual teaching symposium at the university. The announcement of the prize is also published in Science magazine, featuring a two-page advertorial. This advertorial will describe the Foundation’s motivation for the award and the winners’ achievements and ambitions regarding teaching that led to the prize.
