The Loro Parque Foundation has launched the Conservation Project Funding Program to support projects that mainly focus on parrots and marine species.

The main aim is to improve the conservation status of the endangered species as well as to promote conservation of the land and marine biodiversity.

Goals
  • Improve the conservation status of threatened parrots and cetaceans in their own habitats.
  • Promote social awareness about the need to protect parrots and cetaceans and, in general, the Planet’s biodiversity.
  • Support and collaborate in education and conservation programs focused on parrots and cetaceans, as reference groups for the protection of the most endangered species and ecosystems of the sea and land.
  • Promote responsible breeding and animal welfare to increase parrot safety in their natural habitat.
  • Fund and develop applied research programs that improve general knowledge of parrot and cetacean biology.
  • Reduce trade pressure on wild parrot populations through responsible breeding of the species most in demand by breeders.
  • Optimize the presence of parrots in captivity to encourage conservation actions in the field and carry out reintroduction programs.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Loro Parque Fundación has a strong commitment with the environmental protection; hence those proposals from organizations with an environmental management scheme will be favored, especially if the correct management of the waste produced in the field activities can be accredited or certified.
Guidelines
  • The application must be drawn up in English. The Loro Parque Fundación Advisory Committee has an international character which uses English as its common language.
  • Loro Parque Fundación serves normally as the sole or main sponsor of the projects in which the foundation is involved. An application that is not orientated to that purpose need to be reasoned and the benefits should be explained.
  • The terms of collaboration are determined by a contract that regulates the conditions between applicant and Loro Parque Fundación. In case of requiring continued support for a project, please, don´t assume that the template contract will be remained unchanged, since Loro Parque Fundación reserves the right to change the terms.
  • If any other organization or person is going to manage the received funds, it is essential to explain why it is necessary and to include the cost of such service, as well as to provide the administrator details.
