The 10GM Medium Grants programme for 2025/26 invites voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations across Greater Manchester to ignite healthier communities by encouraging walking and wheeling.

Backed by Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership and delivered through GM Moving in collaboration with Salford CVS and 10GM, this opportunity offers grants of up to £7,000 for projects designed to get people on their feet—or wheels—even if they've been inactive.

This funding is aimed at organisations with a turnover exceeding £10,000, supporting imaginative initiatives that engage those who face obstacles to movement. Whether participants use a wheelchair, mobility device, or pram, these projects should center on walking or wheeling, helping people move more often and more joyfully.

Greater Manchester's community groups are encouraged to focus on priority populations—those who statistically are less likely to be active, like older adults, people with long‑term health conditions or disabilities, women with young children, or individuals from Asian, Black, or Chinese backgrounds. The emphasis lies in reaching those who typically encounter barriers, and helping them take those first steps or gentle rolls towards better health.

Partnerships with the local health and care ecosystem amplify the impact. Embedding projects alongside GP practices, family hubs, or specialist teams fosters a seamless connection between health promotion and community engagement. This not only elevates visibility but also builds trust and relevance for those being invited to become more active.

Projects should run between November 2025 and May 2026, with grant funds spent before the end of May and outcomes reported soon after. Throughout this journey, applicants receive support—including online “Meet the Funder” sessions to guide ideas and strengthen applications.

Applicants must be properly constituted community or social enterprise groups and equipped with necessary policies—such as health and safety, public liability, equality and diversity, and safeguarding where relevant. The application process is inclusive, allowing submissions in alternative formats for accessibility and ensuring that those new to the fund have a fair shot at participating.

Once funded, organisations receive timely grants, clear guidance, and the chance to share their story through creative reporting. Demonstrating impact through photos, narratives, and learner reflections deepens the connection between funders, communities, and participants, while helping shape future investments in this vital work.

Behind every successful project is thoughtful planning—from budgeting for equipment, venues, staffing, insurance, refreshments, and promotion, to plotting how long-term behaviour change can be fostered and sustained. Projects that prioritize movement while weaving in community connection and joy are especially powerful.

Ultimately, this grant programme is more than financial support. It’s a spark for community wellbeing, for stories of transformation, and for giving everyone, regardless of their starting point, the chance to step forward—whether that's walking or wheeling—into healthier, stronger, more connected lives.
