The Drakenstein Municipality has announced a Grant in Aid competition for the 2025–2026 period, inviting non-profit organizations operating within the municipal area to submit proposals aligned with its Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and South Africa’s National Development Plan (NDP).

This funding is intended to support ward-based operational projects, but the grants are strictly for special initiatives rather than core operational costs.

Eligible organizations must be non-partisan, recognized social service entities registered as non-profits with the Department of Social Services, and listed in the municipality's supply chain database. Applicants must provide a full proposal, complete with an implementation plan, detailed budget, governing documents such as the organization’s constitution, evidence of quarterly meetings, and a list of active board members. Sports organizations must also provide proof of affiliation with relevant local federations and include lists of equipment or attire.

The grant covers a wide range of focus areas including youth development, gender-based violence, food and nutrition, early childhood development, support for the elderly and persons with disabilities, street-to-family reintegration programs, substance abuse, crime prevention, HIV/AIDS services, sports and recreation, and special commemorative programs like Human Rights Day or Heritage Day.

Importantly, organizations that have received municipal funding in the past two financial years are ineligible. This grant presents a compelling opportunity for local non-profits committed to addressing pressing community needs through focused and impactful projects.
