The European Fund for Youth Action on Pollinators has launched a 30-month initiative, co-funded by the European Commission and implemented through IUCN Save Our Species.
The Fund will deliver measures to improve the conservation status of wild pollinators, increase their knowledge base about pollinators and their role in natural and modified ecosystems, and mobilise society through actions for pollinators in eligible countries of the European Union.
Objectives
- The European Fund for Youth Action on Pollinators aims to foster engagement of young people in implementing the actions of the revised EU Pollinators Initiative.
- The Fund will deliver conservation measures to improve the conservation status of wild pollinators, increase their knowledge-base about pollinators and their role in natural and modified ecosystems, and mobilise society through direct action and/or research in countries of the European Union.
Funding Information
- Indicative total financial envelope made available for the funding of this call is EUR 340,000.
- Grants for individuals to support actions for pollinators can amount to a maximum of EUR 15,000.
- The maximum duration of the project should be 15 months.
Eligible Costs
- Estimated in the list of expenses in the project budget.
- Necessary for the implementation of the project activities and deliverables.
- Generated during the lifetime of the project (costs incurred before the official starting date of the project or after the official end date of the project are not eligible).
- Reasonable, justified and comply with the principles of sound financial management, in terms of value for money and cost-effectiveness.
- Compliant with the requirements of the applicable tax and social legislation.
- Incurred in compliance with the Procurement Policy and Procedure for IUCN Grant Recipients.
Ineligible Costs
- Debts and debt service charges (interest)
- Provisions for losses or potential future liabilities
- Purchases of land and buildings
- Financial support to third parties through sub-grants
- Reckless and excessive spending vi. Interest owed
- Currency exchange losses
- Bank costs charged by the beneficiary’s bank for transfers from the granting authority
- Deductible or refundable VAT (including VAT paid by public bodies acting as public authority)
- Costs incurred or contributions for activities implemented during grant agreement suspension
Eligible Activities
- Research projects seeking to advance pollinator knowledge are welcome.
- Activities responding to local, national and regional priorities are encouraged.
- It is important to show a link between your action and how it could benefit the species, what is the change you want to see from this, ensure the purpose is clear.
- The applicant is advised to inform local authorities and stakeholders about the planned activities and, to the extent feasible, engage them in their execution with a view to ensure long-term impacts of the actions.
- Proposed activities must observe all relevant environmental and social Principles and Standards.
Ineligible Activities
- Activities focused on managed pollinator populations
- The purchase of land and firearms, involuntary resettlement of people, or activities that negatively affect physical cultural resources, including those important to local communities
- Activities adversely affecting individuals and local communities or where these communities have not provided their broad support to the project activities
- The removal or altering of any physical cultural property (includes sites having archaeological, paleontological, historical, religious, or unique natural values)
- Captive breeding
Eligibility Criteria
- In line with the Fund’s objective, target beneficiaries are young individuals between 18 and 35 years old.
- In order to be eligible for a grant, the applicant must:
- Be an EU citizen and be based in an eligible country where the action will be implemented;
- Be a natural person of between 18 – 35 years of age;
- Be directly responsible for the preparation and implementation of the grant project. Applications submitted by a body acting as an intermediary for a third party are not eligible;
- Have a bank account in the name of the applicant;
- Demonstrate appropriate competency to deliver the proposed actions.
