The LEO Foundation Research Networking Grants aim to facilitate and augment scientific collaboration and networking while enabling rapid exchange of knowledge and expertise across the skin research community.

Purpose: The purpose of the Research Networking Grants is to facilitate and augment scientific collaboration and networking as well as enable rapid exchange of knowledge and expertise across the skin research community by supporting events that provide researchers and students with opportunities to present and discuss the newest research within their field.

Supported events include topic-centered and research-based conferences, meetings, symposia, or workshops with a main focus on skin and/or skin diseases. An organization representative or individual who is the primary organizer of such scientific events may apply. The proposed event should be publicized widely, open to international participants, and, where relevant, include opportunities for younger researchers to present their work. The event must take place within 18 months of the application deadline, cannot be commercial or for-profit, and annual meetings of research societies are ineligible except for targeted scientific activities. Recipients of active LEO Foundation grants over DKK 12 million must justify the need for additional support. Applications for multi-year or multi-event funding are ineligible. Applicants may submit only one application per call, with one main applicant and one host organization responsible for managing funds.

The Round 2 call for 2025 opens on 5 August 2025 with a deadline of 1 October 2025 at 16:00 CEST. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in December 2025, and supported events must take place no later than 18 months after the application deadline. The maximum grant amount is DKK 500,000, including administrative costs, and eligible expenses include travel grants for young researchers, travel and accommodation for invited speakers, venue and equipment rental, catering, local transportation, event-related activities for young researchers, publication of abstracts, and up to 5% administrative costs.

Applications must be submitted in English via the LEOnora online portal and include a scientific abstract, event details, expected outputs and outcomes, and a layman’s abstract. Mandatory appendices include the applicant’s CV, a preliminary event program, and a total budget with funding sources. Evaluation is based on scientific quality, applicant track record, community interest, and inclusion of younger researchers. The Grant Committee reviews eligible applications, and the Board of Trustees makes the final funding decision.

The LEO Foundation is one of the world’s largest private funders of independent skin research, having invested over EUR 195 million in the past decade to make Denmark a global leader in the field.
