The Department of Employment and Labour has announced a call for proposals for NPOs/PBOs specialising in labour matters to provide training and workshop sessions on labour laws to vulnerable workers during the 2025/2026 financial year.

The training should focus on the following: Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Labour servicing organisations from all provinces are encouraged to submit proposals for this initiative, which aims to strengthen civil society through capacity building in labour rights and protections for vulnerable worker groups. The programme seeks to ensure that participating organisations have the necessary expertise, infrastructure, and financial accountability to deliver effective training.

Applicants must be registered with the Department of Social Development in terms of the NPO Act of 1997 and attach an NPO certificate. They must have an existing office with equipment, an active bank account with confirmation, and submit an audited financial statement for a previous project funded by any donor. Knowledge and understanding of labour-related matters and laws, as well as familiarity with COIDA and OHSA, are essential. Applicants must also provide the latest NPO compliance letter issued by the Department of Social Development and a valid letter of good standing for COIDA/OHSA proposals. Deregistered organisations will not be considered.
