The World Food Programme is accepting grant applications for the Implementation of an Integrated Nutrition Programme, Anticipatory Action and Early Action Response in Karamoja.

WFP will support the management of acute malnutrition as outlined in national guidelines developed within the framework of the new WHO guidelines. WFP also commits to support nutrition capacity strengthening work focusing on supporting national and sub-national systems to plan, deliver, and monitor effective, multisectoral nutrition interventions that ensure improved access to affordable, safe, and nutritious foods—building long-term self-reliance and enhancing health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

Expected Results
  • Increase access to adequate, safe, diverse and nutritious foods at the household level by scaling up nutrition-sensitive livelihood interventions and provision of NutriCash to pregnant, breastfeeding women and children under two years during the first 1,000 days of life in targeted districts.
  • Strengthen the prevention and management of wasting, the prevention of stunting, and addressing micronutrient deficiencies.
  • Promote optimal WASH, and MIYCAN practices at the community level using appropriate SBCC approaches.
  • Strengthening the enabling environment - Fostering political commitment and collaboration between key partners and the community and through capacity building of local partners and government.
  • Cash-Based Transfers (CBT) – to support vulnerable households in meeting immediate needs ahead of a drought event.
  • Rehabilitation and Repair of Water Facilities – to ensure continued access to water for both human and livestock use.
  • Distribution of Early Maturing Seed Varieties – to enable timely planting and harvesting before the peak of drought conditions.
  • Dissemination of Early Weather and Climate Information – to inform communities and stakeholders for timely decision-making
