The Chevening has announced its Gurukul Fellowship for mid-career professionals from India who have strong and demonstrable leadership potential.

The fellowship focuses on the economics of global integration, including growth, trade, regulation, and deregulation; the role of science and technology, such as climate change, the internet, technological inter-connectedness, and cyber security; and the new politics of support and opposition to global integration, encompassing nationalism and internationalism, security, and conflict.

Each fellowship award covers full programme fees, living expenses for the entire duration of the fellowship, and return economy airfare, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder participation.

The fellowship spans 12 weeks, beginning in September and concluding in November, and is designed to equip fellows with the skills, knowledge, and networks required to translate insights into policy and practice. Participants will gain a deep understanding of contemporary opportunities and challenges of global integration, develop leadership skills necessary to address them, and learn how to apply this knowledge effectively in real-world contexts.

Alongside academic engagement, fellows will benefit from numerous site visits across the UK and a varied cultural programme, which ensures integration into the academic and cultural life of the host university. Throughout the fellowship, participants will work on developing, researching, and presenting a public policy plan, while also expanding their professional connections.

To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of India and currently reside in the country, possess a postgraduate qualification or equivalent professional training or work experience, and have at least ten years of relevant work experience. Candidates must also demonstrate leadership potential and be mid-career professionals across sectors such as government, private industry, media, and civil society. Additional Chevening eligibility requirements apply, including not holding British or dual citizenship, not having received UK Government-funded scholarships within the last five years, and not being an employee or close relative of His Majesty’s Government or related institutions within the last two years. Application closes on 7 October 2025.
