This initiative reflects the Foundation’s commitment to empowering local environmental non-governmental organizations (ENGOs) that are actively working to protect ecosystems and promote sustainability in their communities.

Proposals are invited from eligible organizations through two distinct streams. The first, capacity-building, focuses on projects designed to enhance the internal strength and effectiveness of ENGOs. This may include training for staff and volunteers, upgrading operational systems, or developing improved organizational strategies. The goal is to help groups become more resilient and better equipped to achieve their missions.

The second stream supports projects that drive community impact through tangible environmental outcomes. These must be standalone initiatives or enhancements to existing efforts, rather than general funding to support ongoing work. Projects should deliver clear benefits to local ecosystems or contribute meaningfully to environmental education, awareness, or conservation at the community level.

Each selected organization may receive up to $5,000 to implement its proposed project. By offering targeted support in both organizational development and on-the-ground environmental work, the Aster Foundation is helping build a stronger, more sustainable future for New Brunswick’s environment and the communities working to protect it.
