City of Parramatta
Grant Size
$1000 to $10,000

The City of Parramatta is offering a Sports and Recreation Grant designed to boost participation in local activities and ensure inclusion for a wide range of community members.

This program places particular emphasis on creating opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, disengaged young people, newly arrived migrants, refugees, and humanitarian entrants. It also supports people experiencing homelessness, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, individuals living with disabilities, members of the LGBTI community, people over 55 years of age, and women and girls.

The grant seeks to achieve several important outcomes, including increasing opportunities for participation in sports and recreation, improving accessibility for underrepresented groups, and strengthening community sustainability in line with the Council’s strategic priorities. Another key aim is to expand the number of skilled volunteers, coaches, and officials who can help sustain these activities into the future.

A total of $70,000 is available through the Quarterly Grants program, with a funding cap of $3,000 for each individual sports and recreation project. The program is open throughout the year, but applications are assessed quarterly. Payments can take up to three months from the assessment deadline, so applicants are advised to schedule their projects to begin at least three months after the relevant round closes. For example, projects tied to an August deadline should be planned to commence in November or later.

Successful applicants must complete their projects within six months of receiving the grant and submit their acquittal reports within four weeks of completion. Failure to provide an acquittal will affect eligibility for future funding, ensuring accountability and transparency in the use of Council funds.

Eligibility for the Sports and Recreation Grant is limited to not-for-profit, incorporated organizations or groups that can provide evidence of auspice from an incorporated not-for-profit body. Applicants must either be located within the City of Parramatta or ensure that the funded project is delivered within the city. In addition, organizations must not have overdue progress or acquittal reports from previous grants.

This grant program offers a valuable opportunity for community groups to enhance participation, improve inclusivity, and strengthen local sports and recreation networks, helping to build a healthier and more connected City of Parramatta.
