The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is calling for expression of interests for investing in Primary Health Care through Expanded Community Health Workers Program in Liberia.

Objective
  • The objective of the partnership is to support the government in recruitment, capacity building, including additional module on the soft skills and business ideas, and opportunities for the Community Health Workers. This will be achieved through the following key activities:
    • Develop/review standardized gender responsive competency-based training curricula, including digital training support.
    • Implement effective and efficient training models and enrol CHWs in training institutions using the Career Pathway
    • Support certification or credentialing of CHWs, prioritizing young women aged 18-35
    • Standardize or update selection criteria for CHWs with considerations on age, gender. literacy, approved by & coming from communities where they will be working.
    • Provide access for CHWs to enrol in training institutions using the career pathway as a pre-defined criterion.

    • Outcome 1: Increased employment and upskilling of community health workers # of new community health workers deployed # of young people deployed as new CHW Result Statement: By 2028, 4,984 young people mainly females will be deployed as new Community Health Workers (CHWs), contributing to the upskilling of 9,788 CHWs through gender-sensitive training, career progression pathways, and soft skills acquisition alignment with national policies, resulting in a more skilled and dignified workforce that enhances community health outcomes for women and children.
