This Call for Expressions of Interest seeks to expand the scope of the efforts undertaken in Lima by +ChicasTec and to adapt, redesign, and implement them in the Loreto region, where the challenges are similar and even greater.
Project Objective
- Promote the development of scientific and technological vocations among adolescents in Loreto, especially female adolescents, by improving the teaching and implementation of STEAM projects in secondary school and adapting the +ChicasTec program to the region.

Funding Information
- The reference amount for this proposal is S/1,600,000.00 (one million, six hundred thousand soles) which includes a maximum of 8% of operating expenses and 7% of an amount for capacity development.
- However, the agreement will initially be made only for the amount of year 1 (8 months) for S/430,000 soles (four hundred thirty thousand soles).

Expected Results
- Result to which it contributes: Output 2.2 of the UNICEF Cooperation Programme
- Adolescents gain access to secondary school approaches that foster the development of their skills and abilities, ensuring their completion of studies and the possibility of finding employment.
- Expected goals:
- Five prioritized secondary schools in Loreto are implementing the STEAM methodology to optimize teaching processes in Communication, Mathematics, Personal Development, Science, and Technology, supporting the improvement of learning among adolescents in their first and second years of secondary school.
- At least 1,000 students in these grades are improving their learning and interest in science and technology through the STEAM methodology.
- 60 managers, teachers (including CCYT advisors), specialists, and officials from GREL and UGEL were trained and sensitized to promote the empowerment of adolescents who effectively use STEAM methodologies in their educational practices.
- At least 15 STEAM-focused educational innovation projects are developed in prioritized schools and submitted to the National Competition for Educational Innovation Projects by FONDEP (Peruvian National Fund for the Development of Education), MINEDU, the National Council for Science and Technology (CONCYTEC), or other regional or local competitions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Civil society organizations that meet the following criteria are eligible to submit concept notes:
- Technical competence for working with STEAM and a gender perspective
- Presence in the Loreto region
- Previous experience working with public educational institutions at the secondary level and CETPROS, involving training and/or development of principals and teachers, pedagogical support, and the promotion of work with families.
Ineligibility Criteria
- The exclusion criteria are:
- Not having work experience in Loreto in the last 5 years.
- Not meeting the formal requirements to enter into an agreement with UNICEF and receive funds: Peruvian or international non-governmental organizations must be registered as a donation recipient issued by the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT) and registered with the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI) to receive transfers from International Cooperation.
