Be Active Wales Fund to Support Sports and Community Projects (Wales)
Section
The Be Active Wales Fund provides National Lottery funding to support sports clubs and community groups in Wales to get more people active.
The focus of the Be Active Wales Fund includes equipment to help more people take part in sport, coaching courses (up to level 2) that upskill coaches and volunteers, entry-level training courses such as First Aid or Officiating, venue hire for new teams only for a maximum of ten weeks, and pitch improvement projects.
The fund supports not-for-profit sports clubs and community groups across Wales with grants ranging from £300 to £50,000. Applicants must ensure their projects take place in Wales, primarily benefit people living in Wales, have not yet started, do not include items already purchased, and clearly demonstrate how the project will help more people take part in sport.
To apply, applicants must complete the Expression of Interest form and submit it at least five days before the closing date. Once confirmed, they will receive next steps and can then submit a full application with all required details and documents. Applications can be made in English or Welsh.
The funding structure is based on project cost. For grants between £300 and £25,000, Sport Wales will fund up to 90% of the project costs, while the club must cover the remaining 10%. For grants between £25,001 and £50,000, Sport Wales will fund up to 80% of the costs. Some specific items may receive only 50% funding or have financial limits.
