The King Khalid Foundation has launched the Green Opportunities Grant for non-profit organizations to raise awareness of the green economy and encourage the adoption of practices that support innovation and contribute to equal opportunities and environmental sustainability, thus enhancing the Kingdom's efforts to build a diversified economy and green investment.
It is financial support provided to organizations and institutions with the aim of implementing projects and initiatives that enable lower-income groups to acquire functional, professional, and craft skills, enabling them to obtain "green opportunities" that improve their standard of living, through employment or small or entrepreneurial projects within a field or sector that supports and preserves the environment.
Sectors
- The organization must have a role in the project, which is to seek employment opportunities or income-generating opportunities, enabling project beneficiaries to work in any of the sectors that serve and preserve the environment, such as:
- organic farming
- ecotourism
- recycling
- Energy conservation services
- renewable energy
- Environmental sustainability
- Developing and increasing the vegetation cover
- Wildlife protection
Eligibility Criteria
- The Green Opportunities Grant targets non-profit organizations across the Kingdom.
- The organization applying for the grant must have the capacity to implement development and environmental projects.
- The target groups for projects and initiatives should be from the lowest-income groups.
- The proposal must clearly demonstrate the project’s contribution to achieving the program’s objectives, specifically:
- The functional/professional/craft/productive skills that the target groups will be trained on to enable them to enter the labor market, based on the nature of the available opportunities.
- The organization's role in creating income-increasing opportunities for beneficiaries after rehabilitation during project implementation in sectors that serve the environment.
- Applications for the grant are limited to non-profit organizations and applications from individuals will not be considered.
- The grant size varies between small and medium, as the grant value is calculated based on the project's reality and cost rationale.
- Project proposals related to cash assistance, home reconstruction and renovation, other pastoral assistance, or the purchase of assets (appliances, furniture, cars, etc.) will not be considered.
- Accountability and transparency are important principles that the King Khalid Foundation works to promote to ensure the quality of its programs and services.
- Commitment to using the project proposal to present the project by uploading it to the platform.
