The Barr Community Fund, supported by South Ayrshire’s Glen App and Assel Valley windfarm community benefit funding, is now accepting applications from groups committed to enhancing life in Ballantrae.

This initiative provides an accessible and meaningful way for local residents to bring community-driven projects to fruition, with annual funding of around £55,000 available for initiatives that make a real difference.

Supported projects range from small grants of £500 to £10,000 for everyday needs like equipment, running costs, and maintenance, to significant investments up to £25,000 for large-scale transformations. Smaller micro-grants up to £650 may also be available directly through the Barr Community Council when operating, offering flexible support tailored to local needs.

The fund is open to informal and formal community organizations, eliminating the requirement for charitable status—making it easier for grassroots innovators to apply. For grants over £10,000, a streamlined two-stage process includes an enquiry form followed by a full application, ensuring only the most relevant and impactful projects proceed.

Applications are reviewed quarterly by a local advisory panel made up of community council appointees and local residents, ensuring decisions reflect community priorities and values. Those interested in contributing even more deeply can inquire about joining the panel, with opportunities for new appointments available.

The Barr Community Fund offers a powerful springboard for rural groups and community champions to access funding, support long-standing visions, and bring impactful ideas to life.
