The Somerset Community Foundation is offering small grants through the HPC Community Fund to support local groups whose work is affected by the development of Hinkley Point C.

Groups with incomes under £250,000 are eligible to apply for funding to help run projects, refurbish buildings, or purchase equipment, as long as they are based in the areas impacted by the construction.

This fund offers up to £20,000 over three years, or up to £10,000 for one‑year projects. Applications are open year‑round, with decisions made every two months, so there are regular chances to apply. Decisions following that will be made in late November.

Projects supported need to improve community wellbeing and quality of life in places like Bridgwater, Burnham‑on‑Sea and surrounding villages which are seeing significant change from the HPC development. Applicants must meet basic minimum standards around finances, governance, and keeping people safe, and must demonstrate how their work responds to the specific impacts or opportunities created by Hinkley Point C.

Although not every application can be funded, Somerset Community Foundation has around £200,000 available this year from this fund and is usually able to support about two out of every three applications. If you are part of a local group wanting to make a positive difference in your community, this is a chance to get support for practical improvements.
