The Explorers Club is requesting applications for its Fjällräven Field Grant Program to promote excellence in field exploration through scientific research.
Their shared values of conservation, education, community and preserving the instinct to explore are the guiding principles. This grant award supports exploration and research to better understand our environment, a changing climate, and the interconnectivity of wildlife and civilizations around the planet.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to download the form as a worksheet before filling it in online. It is advisable to set aside at least 45 minutes to complete the form in one sitting, as the system will not save information if the browser is closed midway.
Before starting, applicants are expected to read the guidelines carefully. The project title should remain concise and free from excessive technical language so that reviewers from diverse backgrounds can easily understand the objective. For categorization, applicants should choose the predominant category of their project, even if it is multidisciplinary, and later provide further details in the application.
The project description should clearly summarize the background, goals, methodologies, intended outcomes, and potential cultural or environmental impact, avoiding the use of jargon and abbreviations. Supplementary materials such as images, videos, or maps can be uploaded in the designated section. Two letters of support must also be provided to strengthen the application and ensure it is considered complete by the review committee.
Ethical concerns must be addressed directly within the application, as this aspect will be closely evaluated during the review process. Similarly, the status of required permits should be explained, including timelines for acquisition. If permits have been obtained, copies should be attached, and if they are expected later, they must be emailed to the Explorers Club grants team as soon as possible.
Applicants should also be aware that the Explorers Club will not be able to consider research proposals for work being conducted in China or by Chinese citizens, due to current restrictions related to NGO compliance.
