The World Food Programme (WFP) has issued a call for expressions of interest to support the implementation of unconditional cash transfers across multiple provinces in Mozambique, including Niassa, Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Sofala, Zambezia, Manica, and Gaza.

This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen livelihoods and social protection systems in regions affected by recurring shocks and crises.

The overall objective of the project is to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of cash-based assistance to vulnerable families identified under the national social protection programmes PASP and PASD-PE. These families have been selected based on their vulnerability levels, with the aim of reducing the economic strain caused by disruptions to their livelihoods.

The project falls under two key sectors: livelihoods and social policy. In the livelihoods area, it emphasizes the use of cash and voucher assistance as well as the promotion of self-reliance. In the social policy domain, it supports broader goals related to social protection, multidimensional poverty reduction, and the development of strong social safety nets.

Interested organizations are encouraged to present detailed proposals outlining specific activities and comprehensive strategies that demonstrate how they intend to meet the project’s goals. Proposals should include effective methodologies to reach beneficiaries, deliver assistance, and monitor impact, ensuring accountability and sustainability.

By strengthening the delivery of unconditional cash transfers, this initiative seeks to provide immediate support while contributing to longer-term resilience. The WFP’s approach reflects its commitment to protecting vulnerable communities and advancing social protection systems across Mozambique in a time of heightened need.
