Call for Proposals: SHRF Align Grant Program (Canada)

The Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation has launched its Grant Program to enable a diverse and connected research community in Saskatchewan that is well-positioned to receive peer-reviewed funding and conduct impactful research aligned with Saskatchewan stakeholder needs.
Applications must meet each of the following three objectives: Increase research relevance, coordination, and potential for impact by: Enabling development and engagement of robust interdisciplinary research teams, including stakeholders outside academia; and/or; Providing funding to complete activities that shape research to align with the Saskatchewan context and respond to Saskatchewan needs. Increase quality and success of Saskatchewan applications to peer-reviewed research funding competitions at the regional (e.g.; western Canadian- minimum two provinces), national and international level, as well as to SHRF; and Support the development of Saskatchewan research and health professional trainees through opportunities to gain experience in collaborative team building and engagement outside academia, co-development of research questions and approaches, and other research and professional skills related to proposed activities. This is an open call. Applications may address any area of human health.
The grant provides up to $10,000 for a term of one year, with the Principal Applicant permitted to submit only one application per competition. To be eligible, individuals applying as the Principal Applicant must meet the requirements defined in the SHRF Funding Guide. Teams must include at least one Saskatchewan-based trainee, either as personnel or a co-applicant, with clearly described roles and responsibilities. While the inclusion of knowledge-users is not required, supporters are expected to provide a letter of support.
Eligible activities include community needs assessments, determining the scope or scale of health issues in Saskatchewan, identifying next steps for moving from pilot projects to implementation and sustainability, aligning with existing initiatives, engaging with stakeholders, co-developing research questions, ensuring relevance to impacted communities, identifying stakeholder-valued outcomes, answering feasibility questions within the Saskatchewan context, connecting with target audiences, engaging potential private sector investors, showcasing practical applications and market opportunities, and identifying knowledge-sharing avenues outside academia. The application deadline is November 27, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. CST.
