The FCC Community Action Fund in United Kingdom
Section
The FCC Community Action Fund is now open for its 2025–4 funding round, offering a fresh opportunity for locally grounded projects in England.
This grant supports community-driven improvements within a ten-mile radius of an FCC Environment landfill site—providing an accessible window for eligible projects to receive funding.
Local charities, councils, community associations, and sports clubs have the chance to apply for grants ranging from £2,000 up to £100,000. Project proposals must focus on community amenities such as village halls, public parks, museums, and recreation areas—spaces designed for public access and everyday community use. Work might include refurbishing a hall, installing play equipment, or enhancing accessibility and safety within a shared public space.
To qualify, applicants must own or hold a lease or long-term management agreement for the project site, with at least five years remaining. The application process insists on clear evidence of community need—through consultations, quotes, site plans, and financial breakdowns—and applicants must follow guidelines for value for money, sustainability, and deliverability. Projects incorporating recycled materials and eco-friendly features are encouraged and should be supported by an energy performance certificate.
An important feature of the funding structure is the “Contributing Third Party” (CTP) mechanism, which requires applicants to secure 10.75% of their project funding from another source, like a local business or public body, to ensure financial participation and viability.
Funding decisions are made by the FCC Board, and successful applicants will receive a formal funding agreement. Implementation must not begin until this agreement is signed. Whether it's improving the local sports pavilion or creating a safer garden space for families, the FCC Community Action Fund offers real, tangible support for grassroots community enhancements.
