The British Columbia is now requesting applications for its Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program.

The program offers substantial funding to support projects that drive economic diversification, build capacity, and enhance infrastructure in rural and Indigenous communities.

Since its launch, REDIP has invested around $142 million in over 450 community-led projects, creating an estimated 7,000 jobs across the province. The initiative reflects a commitment to resilience, clean growth, and sustainable development in rural regions.

Projects can apply under one of four streams: Capacity Building, Development, Implementation, and Community Transition. Grants range from up to $50,000 per year for capacity building over three years, to up to $1 million for fully implemented infrastructure or services. These streams cater to a wide array of needs—from planning and feasibility studies to large-scale infrastructure investments, including support for communities navigating major economic transitions.

Local governments, Indigenous communities, Métis Nations, modern treaty nations, and not-for-profit organizations are eligible to apply, with Indigenous-led or Indigenous-serving applicants prioritized in some streams. Funding can cover the full cost of eligible projects, up to program-specific caps, encouraging strong local ownership and sustainability.

Eligibility includes small rural communities (generally those with populations under 25,000) located outside Metro Vancouver and the Capital Regional District. Some areas within those regions may apply for exemptions to participate. The program encourages early engagement and recommends connecting with regional program staff to refine project ideas before applying.

This intake provides a great opportunity for rural communities in British Columbia to accelerate economic growth, diversify their economies, and develop infrastructure and services that will have lasting impact.
