Request for Proposals: Environmental Sustainability Grant (Australia)
Section
The Frankston City Council is inviting applications for its Environmental Sustainability Grant for 2025–2026, offering one-off funding to support both community-led environmental projects and landowners’ conservation efforts within the municipality.
This initiative encourages practical, locally-driven actions that align with the city’s long-term sustainability vision. Applicants can apply for a grant of $1,000 to carry out a range of environmental activities. Community groups might use the funds to run workshops on composting, water-saving gardening, or renewable energy; organize events like tree planting or climate awareness gatherings; or offer practical sessions on bicycle maintenance and efficient home practices. At the same time, private landowners located in designated conservation zones can apply to fund targeted revegetation or habitat restoration that strengthens local biodiversity corridors.
Eligible applicants include not-for-profit groups based within Frankston—or those serving large numbers of local residents—or landowners with eligible properties in rural conservation zones. Projects must directly contribute to biodiversity enhancement, sustainable land management, or community education and engagement.
Successful applications will be rigorously assessed against criteria such as alignment with Frankston’s environmental strategies, community impact and educational value, and overall project feasibility. Decisions will be made by a council-appointed panel and ratified through a council meeting, with funding announced in mid-November. Approved projects must be completed by the end of 2025, followed by a brief report on outcomes and budget use in early 2026.
This grant program presents a meaningful opportunity for local volunteers, educators, and landowners to make tangible environmental improvements. Whether through planting native gardens or empowering your community with climate-smart tools, this initiative celebrates action that strengthens Frankston’s ecological resilience and community wellbeing.
