Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize for Natural Science Teachers at Universities (Denmark)
Section
Applications are now open for the Novo Nordisk Foundation Prize to recognize and highlight a team of teachers (two or three teachers) who have collectively made an extraordinary effort to educate and qualify the country’s Natural Science students at universities and have set an example which inspires at international level.
The Novo Nordisk Foundation’s Prize for Natural Science Teachers at Universities is an annual award for committed and talented full-time permanent teachers or tenure-track assistant professors who teach Natural Science subjects in Natural Sciences educational programmes in the Danish Realm. The prize is awarded to teams of two or three teachers, and each university can nominate only one team.
The prize consists of a sum of DKK 1,500,000, which includes a personal honorarium of DKK 25,000 for each educator. The remaining amount is given to the university as an educational funding grant for the development of Natural Science teaching. This funding can be used for things like purchasing experimental equipment, upgrading teaching facilities, development projects, or inspiration trips to other universities.
Nominees are selected by a university’s rector or dean. While students and colleagues are encouraged to propose candidates to the dean or rector, the official nomination must come from the university itself. The Committee on The Novo Nordisk Foundation Teaching Prizes then selects the successful nominee. The prize is presented at either the recipient’s university celebration or the annual teaching symposium at the University. An announcement about the prize and its recipients will also be published in SCIENCE magazine.
