CFAs: Food Assistance for Disaster-Affected Populations in Saint Vincent and The Grenadines
Section
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking partners to support the delivery of food security interventions in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, with a particular focus on disaster-affected populations in Saint Andrew.
The initiative aims to ensure that vulnerable communities receive timely and effective assistance through both cash-based transfers and in-kind food distribution.
Through this program, approximately 15,000 individuals, representing around 5,000 households, will benefit from either direct food assistance totaling about 100 metric tons or equivalent cash support delivered through government-issued instruments such as vouchers or payment cards. The support is designed to help families meet their essential needs, safeguard their nutrition, and protect their livelihoods during times of crisis.
The program emphasizes strong accountability and protection mechanisms. All beneficiaries will be systematically registered, and identity verification will be conducted where possible to ensure fair distribution. Communities will also be engaged through public information campaigns, referral systems, and accessible redress mechanisms, ensuring that the assistance is transparent and inclusive.
WFP also requires partners to maintain high standards in food storage, handling, and distribution. Local warehouses and distribution points will operate under strict food safety and quality control measures to guarantee that assistance reaches households in good condition. In addition, monitoring before and after distribution will be carried out to collect data that can guide programme adjustments and improvements.
Partner organizations will be responsible for reporting on their activities using WFP-provided formats, ensuring clarity and accountability in implementation. To avoid conflicts of interest, organizations directly involved in delivering food or cash assistance will not simultaneously manage independent monitoring or community feedback mechanisms in the same area, though in some cases WFP may assign partners exclusively to these monitoring roles.
The scope of activities will ultimately depend on operational needs, geographic impact, and agreed programmatic objectives once the Stand-By Field-Level Agreement is activated. Through these efforts, WFP and its partners aim to strengthen resilience, protect food security, and support communities recovering from the effects of disasters.
