The RGS-IBG Postgraduate Research Awards provides grants of up to £2,500 for PhD students. The awards are open to PhD students who are registered at a UK Higher Education Institution. Preference is given to students who do not receive full funding from a research council, university, or comparable sources for fieldwork and data collection.

The Society may publish details of supported projects, including text and images, in their publications and online. Grant recipients may be asked to give a lecture on their work. If you wish for any information about your project or individuals associated with it to not be published, you must inform the Grants Officer as soon as possible.

Grant recipients are required to provide information on any relevant press or media coverage. If a published media output is a requirement of a grant, the Society retains the copyright unless otherwise informed. However, there is no guarantee that this output will be published or broadcast.
