UNDP is seeking to hire a firm or service provider to deliver awareness sessions and workshops on Menstrual Hygiene Management and to distribute Menstrual Health Kits to approximately 10,000 students and community members in the target districts of Sindh, including District Larkana, District Dadu, and District Kambar-Shahdadkot.
Background
- The project needs to recruit a firm/organization/institute for the following reasons:
- Flood Recovery Programme (FRP) is supporting Government of Sindh in providing critical rehabilitation and capacity development support to improve education outcomes for flood-affected populations in Pakistan, with a specific emphasis on girls. By aiming to restore education services that have been disrupted due to the country’s devastating floods, the project seeks to increase the provision of and access to safe, inclusive, gender-sensitive education for girls, through efforts to reduce physical, structural and social barriers to girls’ education in flood-affected communities. It also aims to strengthen the disaster-preparedness and climate resiliency of schools, school communities, and other key education stakeholders, to help ensure the continuity of education in crisis and post-crisis settings.
- Therefore, to foster a conducive learning environment for girls in flood-affected communities in target schools, FRP is supporting the Government of Sindh in the implementation of a targeted Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Awareness Campaign, with the aim of reaching approximately 10,000 students and community members across 40 sites/schools/communities in three districts of Sindh (approximately 25 in District Larkana, 6 in District Dadu, and 9 in District Kambar-Shahdadkot).
Background and Objective
- The campaign will seek to raise awareness about the importance of proper menstrual hygiene, reduce stigma, and empower adolescent girls to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence. Recognizing that menstrual health is a critical component of overall well-being, the proposed activity will seek to address key challenges—such as lack of awareness, inadequate facilities, and social taboos—that often contribute to discomfort, health complications, and increased absenteeism among girls.
- To that end, FRP seeks to recruit a firm/service provider that will work closely with its team, national partners, and government counterparts (at both district and provincial levels) to implement a specialized awareness campaign/workshops on MHM. The service provider will be responsible for:
- school and community mobilization (which includes identification and enrolment of potential participants from the selected communities, in consultation with the FRP team);
- delivering approved awareness sessions/workshops based on the Government of Sindh’s endorsed training module in schools and communities; and;
- as part of the awareness workshops, distributing complete Menstrual Health Kits (provided by UNDP) to all the participants across the three districts.
- The objectives of the assignment are:
- Identify and enroll potential participants from the selected schools and communities (approximately 40)
- Conduct half-day awareness campaign sessions/workshops in target schools (approximately 40) and respective communities for up to 10,000 participants.
- Distribute UNDP approved (and sourced) Menstrual Health Kits to 10,000 beneficiaries as part of the awareness campaign sessions/workshops.
Period of assignment/services
- 6 months starting with effect from the date of signing of the Contract.
