The Canary Wharf Group (CWG) has opened applications for Round 3 of its 2025 Community Grant Programme, aimed at supporting local initiatives that have the greatest impact for those who need it most in Tower Hamlets.

Focus areas include Education, Skills and Employment, and Wellbeing.

Aligned with CWG’s Social Value Strategy, the programme seeks to create a positive and lasting impact beyond the built environment, fostering strong relationships with the local community. Managed by the East End Community Foundation (EECF), the fund has a total annual budget of £300,000, with approximately £100,000 available for this round. Grants range from £500 to £10,000 for projects lasting up to 12 months, with priority given to initiatives demonstrating a clear local need, addressing equity, diversity and inclusion, and reaching under-represented communities. Grassroots organisations based in or connected to Tower Hamlets are especially encouraged to apply.

Education projects may include extra-curricular programmes, life skills development, and career opportunities for young people. Skills and Employment initiatives should target those distant from the labour market, with preference for collaborations involving CWG or Canary Wharf businesses. Wellbeing projects can address poverty, hardship, mental health, and social isolation, particularly among older adults and people with disabilities. Examples of previously funded projects include homework clubs, entrepreneurship workshops, barista training with work placements, and health or arts activities for vulnerable groups.

Eligible applicants include voluntary, community, faith, and social enterprises with an annual income under £2 million, registered charities, community groups with a constitution, co-operatives, community interest companies, and certain schools and statutory agencies. Applications from for-profit organisations, individuals, and projects outside Tower Hamlets are not eligible.
