Entries are now open for the International Zendal Awards to drive, spread and reward the knowledge and research in the field of biotechnology globally.

ZENDAL’s mission is to contribute to improving quality of life through the research and development of medicines, particularly vaccines, aimed at preventing diseases in both humans and animals.

They recognize that human and animal health are interconnected with ecosystem preservation and wellbeing. For this reason, sustainability and biodiversity promotion are fully integrated into the company’s lines of work.

The challenge of researching, developing, and manufacturing new products for human or animal health must be met with an integrative perspective, considering all living beings and the environment.

Within this framework, the 6th edition of the International ZENDAL Awards is announced, aiming to disseminate, promote knowledge, and reward research in the field of biotechnology at a global level.

Categories
  • Human Healthcare Award:
    • In the form of a donation to a public or private institution (University, Government body, NGO, Foundation, Research Institute, startup...) that contributes to improve the human welfare within the field of healthcare and disease prevention.
  • Animal Healthcare Award
    • In the form of a donation to a public or private institution (University, Government body, NGO, Foundation, Research Institute, startup...) that contributes to improve the animal welfare within the field of healthcare and disease prevention.
Funding Information
  • Human Healthcare Award:
    • Value of the prize: €40,000
  • Animal Healthcare Award:
    • Value of the prize: €25,000
Evaluation Criteria
  • Selection process: The jury will award points to each candidate, and the project with the highest score in each category will be declared the winner. Only one project per category will be awarded.
  • Projects will be evaluated based on:
    • Scientific and technical quality
    • Feasibility and applicability
    • Degree of innovation
    • Knowledge transfer
    • Impact on health, wellbeing, and sustainability
Application Requirements
  • Applications must be submitted in Spanish or English.
    • Each application must include:
      • Application form
      • Letter of support: Candidatures may be endorsed by a person or institution linked to the applicant institution or the research field (external to the project), such as a university rector or other relevant figure.
      • Project report (max. 5 pages, Word format, Times New Roman 12, 1.5 line spacing, Vancouver style), including:
      • Project title
      • Award category
      • Hosting institution
      • Details of the Principal Investigator and team
      • Abstract (max. 300 words)
      • Background and justification
      • Objectives
      • Methodology
      • Expected results and impact
      • References
      • Additional information (optional): PI CV, expected benefits, innovation aspects, key success factors or barriers.
    • Multiple projects per researcher or institution may be submitted, but duplicate submissions of the same project are not allowed. Projects may be in any phase prior to commercialization.
