The International Organization for Migration invites applications for financial grants intended to provide complementary financial support to collective shelters and organizations that provide services for refugees residing in shelters.

This initiative is part of IOM's broader strategy, as outlined in the Ukraine Strategic Response Plan for 2024-2026, which emphasizes humanitarian assistance, access to essential services, and specialized protection. It also underscores the importance of localization, recognizing the critical role of local actors in delivering effective and sustainable responses to the Ukraine response in Hungary.

Through this call for Grant Applications, IOM Hungary seeks to identify and support collective shelters and organizations operating in these shelters that can effectively contribute to the humanitarian response.

Purpose
  • To identify and empower local collective shelters and organizations operating in these shelters by equipping them with the necessary resources to provide essential services to refugees residing in collective shelters across Hungary. This support is intended to bolster their capacity to address both immediate and long-term needs, with a particular emphasis on reaching highly vulnerable communities.
Focus Areas
  • The grants will focus on enhancing local capacity through financial support, enabling organizations to deliver solutions tailored to local needs, with a specific focus on highly vulnerable communities. IOM Hungary welcomes initiatives that include but are not limited to the following areas:
    • Social work;
    • Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS);
    • Developmental work with children.
Funding Information
  • The project proposal budget should be maximum 2 million HUF (Hungarian Forints).
Target Groups
  • The target group for the proposed projects is limited to refugees from Ukraine and dual Hungarian-Ukrainian citizens who have been displaced by the war in Ukraine. Please note that Third-Country Nationals (TCNs) from Ukraine or other countries are not eligible for inclusion in the target group.
Eligibility Criteria
  • The applicants must satisfy the following requirements:
    • Be a government agency, government owned or controlled corporation, non-profit entity/foundation, non-governmental or other civil society entity (NGO/CSO), or company that meets the definition of micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME);
    • Be registered in Hungary according to local regulations;
    • Organizations that are current active beneficiaries of previous rounds of IOM Hungary’s grant scheme are not eligible for additional funding under this call.;
    • Be committed to the core values of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) Framework, Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, the IOM Data Protection Principles and the Humanitarian Principles;
    • It does not discriminate against any person or group on the basis of race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, disability, birth, age, or other status;
    • Complete and submit the Declaration of Conformity with the application;
    • Have been established at least 6 months prior to the date of the Call for Grant Applications (CGA) publication by IOM and IOM’s award decision;
    • It has not been involved or charged with any proscribed practices (Annex D), nor appear on the Consolidated United Nations Security Council Sanctions List or on the United Nations Global Marketplace vendor ineligibility list.
    • Not have any affiliations with IOM staff members.
