UNICEF Jordan Supported Young People Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme
Section
The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund Jordan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Youth is seeking applications to support young people mental health and wellbeing programme.
UNICEF's Adolescents Development and Participation (ADAP) programme in Jordan provides adolescents and youth with the skills and opportunities to transition into a productive and resilient adulthood.
Young people in Jordan navigate their mental health within a complex web of relationships and circumstances. Concerns about the present and future loom large for this age group. Focus group discussions and interviews with young people, caregivers and mental health specialists reveal that many young people feel fear or shame, which limits them from disclosing mental health challenges, seeking informal support, or accessing formal mental health services.

Expected Results
- Potential partners applying to this expression of interest are required to:
- Enhance the skills and knowledge of professionals and frontline workers who work directly with young people at the Ministry of Youth and the Ministry of Health. This also includes active young individuals working on mental health. The plan is to achieve this by organizing six workshops for 150 participants in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth.
- Increase access to mental health literacy through disseminating mental health literacy resources and embedding mental health promotion into 60 youth and health centers. The aim is to provide broader, sustained access to essential mental health education and support for young people.
- Facilitate increased mental health literacy and reduce stigma by creating open spaces at community-based centres, including UNICEF youth centres in refugee camps and Ministry of Youth centres, to serve as welcoming environments where 3,000 young people (aged 16-24) can engage in discussions about mental health and wellbeing. This also includes reaching out to their parents and caregivers.
- Develop youth-friendly products through empowering 2,100 young people to develop new and innovative multimedia products, social media campaigns, and AI solutions through a mental health innovation opportunity.
- Conduct an impact measurement study to assess the changes in knowledge, attitudes, and practices of professionals working with young people, as well as the young people themselves, regarding mental health and well-being.
