The International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development, under its Foresight Intervention, in collaboration with Himalayan University Consortium (HUC), invites researchers and mid-career faculty from the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region to apply for the fully funded HUC Academy 2025.
This program focuses on strengthening the capacities of researchers, scholars, and faculty to explore climate change and migration linkages in the HKH region through collaborative research.
Aims
- Enhance scientific and applied knowledge on climate and migration linkages.
- Improve skills to design and implement research on the topic.
- Improve practical skills/competence on methodologies for undertaking research in this complex topic.
- Create an interdisciplinary network of teaching faculty and scholars working on the topic.
Benefits
- Selected candidates will be granted a full scholarship including round-trip travel, food, and accommodation to attend the Academy in Kathmandu from 4-9 August 2025.
Eligibility Criteria
- Professional background
- Current university faculty with research responsibilities.
- Working in or with demonstrated work experience in the HKH region.
- Experience in climate change adaptation and migration (preferred).
- Qualification
- At least a master’s degree in Social Science, Development Studies, or a relevant degree.
- At least one peer reviewed publication in a recognised journal.
Application Requirements
- The application must include a 500-word write-up on a research topic related to climate change adaptation and migration linkages, demonstrating the applicant’s interest in and understanding of the subject.
- The write-up should also clearly outline the applicant’s expectations from the program and explain how they intend to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in their future work.
- The write-up must be the original work of the applicant.
- Plagiarism or the use of AI-generated content is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
